2007 saw the start of UWE’s very own dance squad. Meeting once a week, the group work on fitness and rehearse routines in various dance styles to take competitions across the country. Last year, our Squad travelled to Loughborough University and gained 2nd place in the Contemporary category!

Anyone interested in joining UWE’s Dance Squad should keep an eye out on the Activites notice board and here on our website for the dates of our auditions! And just in case you wondered, it doesn’t cost anything to join so long as you’ve paid your membership!

Auditions will involve learning 2 short routines (most likely in Modern Jazz and Hip Hop, and possibly ballet) and then performing them in small groups. You will be judged not only on your technique, but also your enthusiasm and your ability to pick up routines quickly. So don’t worry if you have never tried these styles of dance before, just come along and give them a try!
